Compared with a more compact training platform, it offers greater crew space and a more developed control system, allowing sailors to progress from fundamental boat handling towards structured race training. The Fareast 23R gives six sailors a genuine team-racing environment while retaining a scale that remains approachable for developing crews. From steering and mainsail trim to jib and gennaker handling, crew positioning and tactical communication, every sailor works within a defined role and learns how their decisions affect the rest of the team.

It works equally well for adult crews training and racing at club level, or as a progression platform for younger sailors moving from single-handed dinghies into crewed keelboat sailing. Precise Control · Progressive Upgrade

The 23R incorporates a complete set of racing controls, including jib winches, jib tracks, a mainsail traveller, a main sheet system and a back stay system. These systems allow crews to train in greater depth across changing wind conditions, course requirements and sail-shape optimization.

For developing teams, that means room to learn. For more experienced crews, it leaves further scope for refinement.  

A Balanced Platform for Club Racing

At 7.28 m long and 2.55 m wide, with a 1.40 m lifting T-keel, the Fareast 23R balances crew space, sport-sailing capability and operational practicality. Its size allows clubs and owners to plan transport, storage and launching around their own circumstances, while retaining the platform size required for meaningful crewed racing.
