Good News! Fareast 42C Wins the Prestigious Gustave Trouvé Electric Boat Awards (The Gussies)
In the early hours of October 29, Fareast Technology received official notification from the Gustave Trouvé Awards committee: the Fareast 42C secured first place in the Electric Sailboats category. The final result was jointly determined by over 5,000 public online votes and an international judging panel consisting of 25 electric boating specialists.
The Gustave Trouvé Awards (nicknamed The Gussies) are the world’s only international marine awards exclusively dedicated to electric vessels. The Fareast 42C is also the sole Chinese-built boat to win an award at this global event.
Back in March this year, Fareast Technology and ePropulsion jointly unveiled China’s first fully electric offshore catamaran — the Fareast-ePropulsion 42C New Energy Catamaran. ePropulsion delivered a fully customized integrated marine electric propulsion solution for the vessel, covering lithium power batteries, propulsion systems, control systems and more. Running on full electric power, the Fareast-ePropulsion 42C can sail up to 100 nautical miles for a maximum of 20 hours at cruising speed, meeting the demands of sailing training, commercial charter operations, regattas, leisure cruising and other scenarios.
Since its launch, the 42C has drawn extensive attention from domestic and international audiences. Its triumph at The Gussies would not have been possible without ePropulsion’s world-leading integrated marine electric propulsion system. The system supports multiple energy sources including solar, wind and lithium batteries, delivering fully green power with zero emissions, zero pollution and ultra-low noise, bringing passengers a brand-new quiet green boating experience.
We are incredibly proud that the Fareast 42C catamaran stood out among nine nominated vessels in the Electric Sailboats category. Its competitors included brand-new models from renowned shipyards such as Sunreef 70 Eco and X-Yachts X4⁹E. We extend sincere gratitude to every supporter who voted for the 42C. Your generous backing allowed Fareast Technology and Chinese marine brands to shine brightly on the global stage.
Designed by internationally acclaimed naval architecture studio SIMONIS VOOGD DESIGN, the Fareast 42C measures 12.55 metres in length with a 6.8-metre beam. It features a sleek, contemporary streamlined silhouette with modern aesthetic appeal.
The 42C’s design prioritizes space efficiency, with open decks at both bow and stern offering abundant leisure zones, paired with a retractable sun awning and foldable fixed tables. These spaces cater to open-air relaxation, socialising, fishing, sea viewing, meditation and a wide range of on-board activities. This layout delivers comprehensive functionality for private owners while holding strong appeal for the catamaran charter industry.
The vessel’s two-bedroom, two-living-room and two-washroom cabin layout provides owners with private rest quarters and ample living space.
In terms of interior finishing, the Fareast 42C comes with a standard fit-out package, and an open customization option is also available. For owners with higher interior requirements, full design authority can be handed over to themselves or independent interior designers. The Fareast 42C catamaran is crafted to become a genuine home on the water for its owners. Its outstanding cost performance and superior space utilisation will make it a favourite within the global catamaran charter market.
The first hull of the Fareast 42C catamaran will be completed in the first half of 2024, with multiple new build orders scheduled for delivery in the second half of the year. This catamaran marks Fareast Technology’s debut model upon entering the catamaran market, following two decades of dedicated R&D and construction of racing sailboats. It also represents the brand’s initial strategic foray into electric and smart marine vessels.
Fareast Technology will showcase its new yacht models alongside the Olympic ILCA dinghy at boot Düsseldorf in January 2024. All media representatives and clients are warmly invited to visit our booth: Hall 15, Stand 15E34.
