Major Milestone! Fareast Secures Official ILCA Approved Builder Status, Launching Global Supply Operations
On August 10, Fareast Technology received exciting news: the company has officially become an Approved Builder of the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) and joined its global supplier network.
As widely recognised, the ILCA dinghy is an Olympic sailing class and a world-famous classic racing boat. This major milestone not only comes with official accreditation from World Sailing and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA), but also injects brand-new momentum into Fareast Technology.
To boost the global development of the class, ILCA has gradually opened applications for Approved Builder status to composite boat manufacturers worldwide since 2019. Under this framework, all ILCA dinghy production is centrally regulated by the association, enabling unrestricted global supply across regions to further popularise the class and grow ILCA sailing events and participation worldwide.
The manufacturing standards for ILCA dinghies are extremely stringent, with clear specifications covering gelcoat, fabrics, resin, all components and spare parts. For manufacturers applying for Approved Builder qualification, the assessment process includes a minimum of seven stages with multiple rounds of evaluation before full certification is granted. The ILCA assessment panel consists of three groups: existing ILCA Approved Builders, ILCA representatives and independent industry specialists.
The assessment panel shared the following feedback on ILCA hulls manufactured by Fareast:
“Accuracy and good lamination were observed during the visit. We saw good control of the factory conditions, high accuracy and detail in the mat cutting, with minimal waste and your lamination team does a very good job of precision and accurate lamination with good consolidation. Which means, that in terms of your GRP technical skills, ILCA is very satisfied.”
Fareast Technology attaining ILCA Approved Builder status is a testament to its standing and reputation within the global sailing industry. The global supply model for ILCA dinghies will bring both expanded opportunities and new challenges to the brand. Fareast Technology will remain committed to delivering premium sailing vessels to meet the diverse demands of sailing enthusiasts around the globe. We look forward to seeing ILCA dinghies thrive with renewed vitality across the international market.
