Fareast’s Sister Yachts Return to International Match Racing Circuits

As two much-anticipated domestic racing sailboats, the Fareast 28R and Fareast 23R, the pair of "sister yacht models", have demonstrated outstanding performance and handling capabilities at numerous previous regattas, capturing global attention. Having been selected as official competition boats for international match racing events on multiple occasions, the Fareast R-series race boats have become an increasingly frequent sight alongside match racing competitions.

World Sailing recently officially announced that Jeddah Yacht Club in Saudi Arabia will host the 2024 World Youth Match Racing Championships from November 29 to December 2, followed by the 2024 Women’s World Match Racing Championships from December 5 to 8.

This marks the first time World Sailing has staged competitions in Saudi Arabia. Nestled along the Red Sea coast, Jeddah Yacht Club has established itself as a premier sailing venue in the country. It recently hosted preliminary races for the America’s Cup, making it the only America’s Cup competition venue outside the host nation of Spain during the 37th America’s Cup cycle.

Both tournaments will adopt the internationally standardized Fareast 28R keelboat, with a maximum of 12 teams competing in each event.

Fareast 28R Sailboat

An official international one-design yacht, the Fareast 28R features a high-performance, lightweight hull framework ideal for coastal racing with crews of four to six sailors, capable of reaching speeds upwards of 20 knots.

Since its launch, the Fareast 28R has remained a firm favourite at sailing regattas both domestically and internationally. Its sister model, the Fareast 23R, has also won wide acclaim among sailors and event organisers alike.

The 2024 European Match Racing Tour (EMRT) is a five-stop match racing series spanning across Europe. The second leg of this year’s EMRT will take place on Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia from August 28 to 31, with the Fareast 23R designated as the official race boat.

The Fareast 23R is a competition-grade sailboat boasting striking aesthetics and impressive speed. It features a streamlined, highly efficient deck layout with intuitive handling that allows sailors of all skill levels to manoeuvre it with ease.

Smaller in hull size than the Fareast 28R, the Fareast 23R delivers exceptional agility and a superb handling experience, making it perfectly suited for inland lake regattas.
